π Flag facts
The decorative red and white stripe on the left is based on a traditional Belarusian woven pattern called a Ruchnik.
Belarus means "White Russia" β the country is famous for its vast ancient forests, including the BiaΕowieΕΌa Forest, home to European bison.
This flag was adopted in 1995 and is very similar to the Soviet-era flag, with the communist symbols removed.
Green represents Belarus's forests and fields, and red represents the blood of defenders of the motherland.
