🌍 Flag facts
The star has seven points representing the seven verses of Al-Fatiha (the opening chapter of the Quran) and Jordan's seven regions.
The three stripes represent the three great Arab caliphates — Abbasid (black), Umayyad (white) and Fatimid (green).
Jordan's capital Amman is home to Petra, the famous ancient city carved into rose-red rock — one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Jordan borders the Dead Sea — the lowest point on Earth's surface, about 430 metres below sea level.
