The five stripes represent the five political parties that came together to form the Seychelles People's Progressive Front when independence was gained in 1977.
Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean and is Africa's smallest country by population.
The islands are home to the Aldabra giant tortoise — one of the largest tortoises in the world, which can live over 150 years.
Seychelles has one of the most unique flag designs in the world — the only national flag with stripes radiating from a corner.
