🌍 Flag facts
The yellow background stands for the Sultan of Brunei. In some countries yellow is a royal colour, and Brunei is one of the few nations still ruled by a sultan.
The crest has a crescent (for Islam, the country's religion), a royal parasol with a flag on top, and two hands raised in a gesture of care for the people.
The writing on the crescent is in Arabic and says "Always in service with God's guidance", the country's motto. The scroll below reads "Brunei Darussalam" — "Brunei, the Abode of Peace".
Brunei is a small country on the island of Borneo, and it is very wealthy because of its large reserves of oil and natural gas.
