🌍 Flag facts
The yellow background stands for the Sultan of Brunei. In some countries yellow is a royal colour, and Brunei is one of the few nations still ruled by a sultan.
The real emblem has a crescent (for Islam, the country's religion), a royal parasol, and two hands raised in a gesture of care — all far too detailed to colour, so it is simplified here.
The emblem also carries writing in Arabic. It says "Always in service with God's guidance", the country's motto.
Brunei is a small country on the island of Borneo, and it is very wealthy because of its large reserves of oil and natural gas.
