🌍 Flag facts
The bird is a Sisserou parrot, found only on Dominica. It's the national bird, and Dominica is the only country in the world with a parrot on its flag.
The ten green stars around the circle stand for Dominica's ten parishes (the areas the island is divided into).
The three-colour cross stands for the Christian faith, and its three colours — yellow, black and white — stand for the island's people, soil and rivers.
Dominica is called the 'Nature Island'. It's covered in rainforest and has a boiling lake heated by a volcano — the second-largest hot lake in the world.
