🌍 Flag facts
The bird is a Sisserou parrot, found only on Dominica. It's the national bird, and Dominica's flag is one of only two national flags with purple on it.
The ten green stars around the circle stand for Dominica's ten parishes (the areas the island is divided into).
The three-colour cross stands for the Christian faith, and its three colours — yellow, black and white — stand for the island's people, soil and rivers.
Dominica is called the 'Nature Island'. It's covered in rainforest and has a boiling lake heated by a volcano — the second-largest hot lake in the world.
