🌍 Flag facts
The colours have meanings: yellow for the country's sunshine and riches, blue for the sea and sky, and red for the bravery of its people.
This is the state flag, with Ecuador's coat of arms: an Andean condor above an oval showing the snowy volcano Chimborazo, a river with a steamship, and the sun.
Ecuador owns the Galápagos Islands, famous for giant tortoises and the animals that helped Charles Darwin work out his theory of evolution.
Ecuador sits right on the equator — which is where its name comes from. Chimborazo's peak is the farthest point from the centre of the Earth.
