The two blue stripes stand for the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea on either side of the country, and the white stripe stands for peace.

This is the plain version of the flag. The government's version has a coat of arms with a quetzal — Guatemala's national bird — sitting on a scroll, with crossed rifles and swords and a wreath.
💚
The quetzal is a bright green bird with a very long tail. It's so important that Guatemala's money is even called the 'quetzal'.
🏛️
Guatemala was the heart of the ancient Maya civilisation. You can still visit huge stone pyramids they built deep in the rainforest, like the ones at Tikal.
