π Flag facts
The four red stars are the Southern Cross, a group of stars you can only see from the southern half of the world.
It's easy to mix up with Australia's flag. New Zealand has four red stars with white borders; Australia has six white stars, including a big one below the Union Jack.
New Zealand voted on whether to change this flag in 2015 and 2016. After two referendums, people chose to keep it.
New Zealand's MΔori name is Aotearoa, which is often translated as "land of the long white cloud".
