🌍 Flag facts
The white bird is a double-headed eagle, an eagle with two heads looking in opposite directions. It's a very old royal symbol used across eastern Europe for hundreds of years.
On the eagle's chest is a red shield with a white cross and four shapes called firesteels (they were once used to make sparks). They are often said to stand for a Serbian saying about unity.
The red, blue and white stripes are traditional Slavic colours, also used by countries like Russia and Slovakia.
Serbia is a country in south-east Europe. It's famous for being brilliant at basketball, tennis and water polo. The tennis champion Novak Djokovic is from Serbia.
