๐ŸŒ Flag facts
๐Ÿฆฉ
The bird in the middle is a grey crowned crane, Uganda's national bird. It has a spiky golden crest on its head and stands tall on one leg.
๐ŸŽจ
Black stands for the people of Africa, yellow for the African sun, and red for the blood and brotherhood that connects all people.
๐Ÿšฉ
The crane was chosen because it's a gentle bird that usually stands on one leg โ€” just like it appeared on the flag of Uganda even before the country became independent in 1962.
๐Ÿฆ
Uganda is a country in East Africa often called the 'Pearl of Africa'. It's home to Lake Victoria, the source of the River Nile, and some of the last mountain gorillas in the world.
